Every year, Valencian Catholics publicly display their devotion to the city's patron, Our Lady of the Desamparados (Forsaken). It's a spectacular event lasting several days, a floral offering during which thousands of men and women lay exuberant bouquets and flower arrangements at the entrance to the cathedral. The flowers are given particular prominence in the illustrated composition. They are recreated in all their majestic splendour, no detail of either form or colour omitted - a feat only City of Porcelain artists are capable of achieving.
