During his childhood, Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865) traveled up and down the Mississippi and had the opportunity to get to know first-hand the problems of slavery. That was when he promised to do everything in his power to fight it and that's exactly what he did. Once he became President of the USA, he proclaimed the emancipation of slaves in 1863. Lladró wanted to pay homage to this great historical figure with this piece, created in 1995.
