The theme of bathing, rituals of dressing hair and personal toilette is inherited from certain episodes of Greco-Latin mythology (the birth of Venus, the Bathing Nymphs). Women's careful attention to their hair has been the subject of great aesthetic interest on behalf of many artists all down through history. In many of their works Titian, Renoir, Degas and Ingres, to mention just a few, depicted delicate females as they brushed out their long locks of hair. In "Coiffure" Lladró depicts these daily domestic scenes in a light-hearted popular tone.
