In "The Burial of Christ" the body of Jesus Christ lies on a sheet that is held aloft by four hands. In addition to the technical difficulty of this piece (which makes it a real tour de force in view of the temperamental behaviour of porcelain when it is fired), its sculptural achievements include the balanced, serene composition and the grave expression and desolate postures that suggest the despondency and sadness of the male and female figures.
